The Church on Mount Zion was founded by Rev. S. S. Mohanty on 7th March 1990 in obedience to God's vision to serve the people through the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. Rev. S. S. Mohanty has sacrificed his life and gone through great tribulation in building the Kingdom of God in the temple city called Bhubaneswar, Odisha according to the plan and direction given by God. During those days it was rare to find a true spirit-filled Pentecostal church in Bhubaneswar. In the beginning of ministry only two families were associated with the pastor and one of the brothers encouraged and said that why not we start church from next week? And immediately at the first Sunday of March 1990 we conducted our first Sunday worship service with just two families and that was the birth of the Church on Mount Zion, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Within seven years of service “Church on Mount Zion” became one of the largest churches in the city.

I, (Pastor S Caleb) joined the church in 1993 and I was sent as a missionary to Cuttack, Odisha after serving the Lord for complete one year at Bhubaneswar. I was able to start a new church within a year and served that Church around four years in Cuttack by Lord’s amazing grace. There were good numbers of people coming to Christ and having lively fellowship (church service) every Sunday. Around 70 – 80 people used to come for Sunday service regularly in CHRIST COLLEGIATE SCHOOL. One fine day I was called back to Bhubaneswar from Cuttack after four years of ministry to serve as a pastor in the main church in Bhubaneswar as Rev. S. S. Mohanty (Founder) decided to move out to start a separate ministry and ever since that day I am serving the church with the same mission and vision according to the plan and direction given by God with various church activities to build the Kingdom of God in the temple city called Bhubaneswar. Now the church has gone up to a next level of leadership with new branches and disciples. All segments of people have joined us and the living praise and worship of our church has been centre of attraction. At present I am the senior pastor of our church, Pastor______________is serving the Lord as a junior pastor since ___________and we have been supported by many volunteers, elders and Deacons through their active participation in the church.

We operate through three churches in ____________districts of Orissa located ___________________and we have two branch churches ______________ and 7 house churches throughout Bhubaneswar. We are having Sunday worship service with 150 believers, typically from Hindu background and have accepted Lord Jesus Christ. Our main focus is reaching the unreached people, serve the people through the love and compassion of Jesus Christ and church planting. CMZ is a Christ centered church focused on gospel, sound doctrine, charismatic, spirit filled church. We do follow biblical rules and regulations like the sacrament of water baptism, Lord’s Supper, Baptism of Holy Spirit, and washing of the feet of the saints.
